Kirsty Robertson: We learned that it was the light in Arles that drew artists, key among them Van Gogh. And indeed, the light was beautiful, catching the stone buildings and Roman ruins almost every evening. It was a juxtaposition with the Mistral - the wind that blows through with great force.
