Researching materials to create potato replicas

Press mould cup shown to Tegan Moore and Kelly Jazvac by Clara from LUMA for inspiration on how to make our potato replicas in bioregional materials.

A potatoesque glaze pulled from the recipe samples at the atelier

Kelly Jazvac: Samples from the 3-D printing in clay at Atelier LUMA. In the end we decided not to print in ceramics because it was not able to capture the organic detail of the potato form, and we'd basically have to re-sculpt it anyways. Still though, these are pretty cool!
The lighter coloured cup in the middle of the frame was fired at high temperature. The red clay was fired at a low temperature and can either stay like that, or get glazed at high temperature. Our potatos are getting fired at a low temperature first, and then we can decide to leave it that way; fire again to get a yellow tone; or glaze it.
