LUMA Atelier publications

Kirsty Robertson: Atelier LUMA's beautifully designed publications including the first Algae publication, which has a binding made from thermo-compressing the scraps of bioplastic left from other experiments. The two publications on top of the pile are also eco-designed and contain a wealth of inspirational material related to bio-regionalism. Here they sit on the table, which was also made from agricultural waste, juxtaposed with a small amount of PVC shavings that Tegan found near to our residency site. The PVC reminded us of how ubiquitous plastics are outside of the space of the Atelier, and also led to conversations about how our own approach, as scholars and artists working on stolen and unceded Indigenous land, should perhaps be one of "trash regionalism" focused on making use of waste materials from exploitative and extractive industries in our region.
